Wyoming Open 2013
Lisa and I had the wonderful opportunity of competing in the Women’s Pro Division in the Wyoming Open this past weekend. Competing is the best way to make yourself humble and find out where your weaknesses lie. In the women’s pro division there were 14 amazing athletes that pushed us to our limits and tested what we were made of. The competition consisted of running, sprinting, 1RM snatches, clean & jerk ladder, chest 2 bar pull-ups, double-unders, muscle-ups, HSPU and heavy weights! Pretty much every movement in CrossFit we faced this weekend. Not only did Lisa and I compete our hearts out, we also made 14 new friends within the CrossFit community! Every workout we were all there cheering each other on. After 2 long days and 6 workouts later they announce the 7th workout: 3 rounds of 10 deadlifts at 185# and 10 HSPU, 150 double-unders, 15 snatches at 105#, 150 double-unders, 3 rounds of 21 KB swings at 55# and 12 chest 2 bar pull-ups with a 20 minute time cap. We all looked at each other and knew this was going to be rough! Needless to say we were right it was no walk in the park and a huge congratulations to Katie Mackey and Cindy Arangua for the only 2 women to finish the workout within the 20 minute time cap.
After 7 awesome crossfit workouts I walked away with a first place finish and Cindy Arangua a second place finish. But the intensity and athleticism that these women brought could have been anyone’s win. I’m grateful and proud to have competed with some of the top women in Colorado and Wyoming! We gave every workout our best and left it all out there.
